SAFETY STANDARDS
Commitment to our Health and Safety Management System
Outstanding safety performance is nothing new for Territorial, nor is it something we take for granted.
All employees and management share responsibility and accountability for ensuring that our staff, partners, property, public & the environment are safe from harm.
Territorial prides themselves on being a leader in the industry when it comes to safety. In fact, we were among the first in the electrical industry to develop and implement its own safety program.
Since the development, we have consistently reviewed our health and safety management system to attain standards beyond what is legislated and we provide the appropriate equipment, training and procedures to achieve our safety goals.
Certificate of Recognition (COR) & Partners in Injury Reduction (PIR)
Since 1995, we have contributed to development and implementation of the Certificate of Recognition (COR) and Partners in Injury Reduction (PIR) programs through which our peers conduct independent evaluations. In addition to the external audits mandated by the Alberta Construction Safety Association, we proactively conduct internal audits.
Safety Training
Proper training is the foundation to our safety success. Territorial’s safety department offers the following training programs:
- WHMIS
- Fall Protection
- Elevated Work Platform
- Arc Flash Training
- Electrical Safety Training
- Hazard Assessment Training
- Supervisor’s Training
- Leadership Programs
- …and many more
Quality STANDARDS
Territorial Electric QA/QC Plan
A key aspect of our mission statement is to “Provide Quality Workmanship”. To that end the development of our QA/QC manual has become a corporate standard for Territorial Electric projects.
Territorial’s reputation for “project safety and quality installations” has been accomplished by the quality driven procedures currently found in our procedure manual. That being said, we now have a specific, documented plan that assists Territorial in delivering a maintained and effective Quality Control Plan that manages, controls and documents compliance with the specified quality requirements.
The Plan states that Territorial Electric bears full responsibility for their installations. The specified quality of the project and its components is a contractual requirement and we are obligated to ensure that the installations meet the standards.
Our plan consists of procedures and organization necessary to assure that the quality of workmanship, materials, equipment and installations, covering both on-site and off-site work, that meets or exceeds the requirements of the plans and specifications of the project.
This plan also includes and encompasses all our respective subcontractors and suppliers.
Our QA/QC plan directly benefits projects and the team through:
- Reduced rework and ordering/delivery errors
- Increased productivity
- Detailed policies and procedures
- Thorough pre-inspection, inspection and testing
- Superior document control
- Efficient supplier and subcontractor control
- Performance evaluations
- Monthly update
Resulting in a safe, cost effective superior quality installation. The Quality Control plan will be under the direct supervision of our Superintendent and our team. Their responsibilities are to:
- Continuously develop, maintain and implement the QC plan
- To maintain on site, in hard copy, a project diary indicating all major activities related to the management of quality.
The Territorial Electric Quality Control Plan provides lines of responsibility as well as descriptions of, and references to quality procedures and instructions, including specific requirements unique to its contract. Its purpose is to establish a communication tool between the General Contractor, Design team and Owner requirements and the means for Territorial Electric to accomplish them.
