Community Involvement

We believe that good corporate citizenship is not an option, it is a responsibility.

Corporate Giving

Territorial Electric Ltd. is a strong supporter of the greater Edmonton community. Over the years, Territorial has contributed to countless amateur sports organizations, local non-profit organizations, and health foundations.

Territorial is a family-focused company that helps to build strong communities. As such, many of our contributions directly benefit Alberta’s youth.

With children at the heart of its corporate giving program, the Stollery Children’s Hospital continues to be one of Territorial’s primary benefactors.

Environmental Responsibility

Environmental stewardship is our moral responsibility. We recognize the importance of preserving the earth and its resources for future generations. Regularly, we suggest product improvements to manufacturers and reassess our own conservation efforts. Where possible, we recycle material, seek out energy efficient solutions for partners and clients, and operate an environmentally friendly fleet of vehicles.

Territorial also demonstrated commitment to environmental protection and management by becoming a pioneer of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program in Alberta. Through LEED we are contributing to the development of “green buildings” by incorporating known effective practices and emerging concepts.

Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP)

We are also dedicated to the betterment of the electrical trade and the construction industry by improving the image of building trades, offering career opportunities to young people, and assisting the Alberta government in promoting the trades as a viable career option. We accomplish this by becoming a proactive participant in trade-related organizations, committees, and boards. (For further details, click here for a complete list of our Memberships.)

In 1998, Territorial hired one of Alberta’s first Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP) electrical students. That young man enjoyed such a positive experience that he pursued a career as an electrician and has become one of Territorial’s outstanding journeymen. Over the years, Territorial has offered this same learning experience to many other young Albertans.

Not only have we hired RAP students but we have also made monetary contributions to the RAP program and assisted in program development.

  • “Territorial has been a strong supporter of the apprenticeship system, employing and training many apprentices and journeymen, and providing opportunity to many entry-level apprentices and RAP apprentices. Territorial has invested significantly in the Local and Provincial Apprenticeship Committees. The environment that has been created at Territorial Electric, from excellent on the job training to the development of a strong work ethic is worthy of special note. Additionally, Territorial goes the extra mile to give opportunity to ‘youngsters’.”
